Conduct the Orchestra
An interactive installation using motion tracking to let the public conduct their own orchestra at Amsterdam's historic Concertgebouw.
It was conceived as a quick and fun experience that makes you become the conductor for a brief moment right in front of the concert hall, and has been enjoyed by young and old alike. Designed by Chris Koolmees in collaboration with The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, this installation was created for the 125th anniversary of the Concertgebouw. We created a custom application in openFrameworks using the Kinect to track users' movements and control the virtual orchestra.
